Each year the Friends Group of Lake Scott State Park hosts a carp derby at Lake Scott State Park to remove unwanted carp. This event is typically held the first weekend in June each year. The tournament begins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday and runs through Sunday at Noon.
The fair features a variety of events, including a Pedal Tractor Pull for kids, Figure 8 Race, Fair Dance, Demo Derby and much more!

Always held the Thursday evening of SC Fair Week in July. Come out and enjoy some free BBQ, watermelon and music! Located out at the Scott County Fair Grounds under the pavilion, the Scott City Area Chamber of Commerce and Beefiesta Committee host this event. Numerous businesses help sponsor this event each year and can be recognized on the Beefiesta Wall out at the Fairgrounds.

The Beefiesta Tasting Booths are always held the Saturday of Fair Week immediately following the Parade in Patton Park (City Park) on Main Street. Multiple businesses grill up their favorite cut of meat and cut it up into bite size portions for everyone to sample. The public can vote for their favorite by placing money into a bucket. It's $0.01 per vote. After the votes are tallied, the winner receives the Beefiesta Traveling Trophy to proudly display in their office for a year. The money collected is donated to a local non-profit organization. Secret judges are also recruited each year to vote on their favorite and those winners receive a small trophy as well.

This event is held annually, usually on the first weekend in December. The show runs on Saturday from 9:00-5:00 pm and Sunday 9:00-4:00 pm out at the Scott County Community Building located at 608 Fairground Rd.
This leg of the Southwest KS TRI-fecta Series will be held on Saturday Aug. 26 @ Historic Lake Scott State Park located about 14 miles North of Scott City. Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. with the races beginning at 8:00 a.m. If you pre-register online, it will definitely speed up the process. There will be three divisions consisting of Men's, Women's or Teams. Individuals competing in the Men's or Women's division will complete the entire series on their own. Teams may assign three different competitors to each leg of the series. The race will consist of 3/4 mile Kayak, 8 mile Bike, & 5 K Run. Order of events may have to be adjusted to ensure there are enough kayaks which will be determined that morning. There are kayaks available to use, but we must know in advance who is going to need them. Each participant will be given a timing bracelet to wear and must be turned back in at the end of the event. After completion there will be a short awards ceremony to recognize the winners and reveal the results.
T-shirt will only be guaranteed to those who register by Aug. 15, 2023!!
